Kyoto's history living in Asahizaka.
Asahizaka, where Otowa Saryo stands, is a place connected to Asahido, linking the Asahido Main Store with Kiyomizuzaka and Chawanzaka.
It is said that this land once housed Chukoin, a sub-temple of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, with a quiet landscape embracing a large pond.
Although the temple disappeared due to anti-Buddhist movements and land confiscation in the early Meiji period, the land has layered history since then, transforming into a Western-style building and an inn.
Even today, a part of the revetment of the pond from those days remains in the garden as a curb for a flower bed, conveying the remnants of the past to the present.
After your meal, please take a stroll through the garden and Asahizaka, and turn your eyes to the history breathing in this land.
